Snow Queen
Although technically billed as “the goblin” - I was lucky enough to play a half dozen over-the-top characters: the goblin, the swallow, the enchanted flower, the rose, the rave, the robber queen and the reindeer. To be fair, a good portion was puppetry based so I was able to pull double duty.
Fog Island
Beautifully adapted by a talented team at Filament Theatre, this was a world primere play based on the beloved childrens book. The Fog Man was challenge to play mysterious and innocent at the same time. Costume designer Noel coined the phrase 'spooky cute'
Cyrano!
Cyrano! Was a three person play that was produced at Filament Theatre in the summer of 2014. I was humbled to play the titular role, conceive and build the set, and choreograph the swordplay.
Fuddy Meers
Ka-tet Theatre company was a major part of my growth from multiple character actor to specifically focused roles with lots of flaws and major influence on plot. The Limping Man in Fuddy Meers is an actors role that is under appreciated and deliciously dangerous to play.
Caesura
In 2011, I was cast as Caesar in The Plagiarist multi-source production or Caesura. In one of the most intimate spaces in Chicago, the Right Brain Project space, we created a reduced yet palpably intense staging of the classic story of the betrayal of Julius Caesar.
Alchemist
Nothing Special Productions presented The Alchemist at the BoHo Theatre in the fall of 2012. I was humbled to be cast as the titular role which was equal parts challenging and rewarding.
Wreck of the Medusa
A year long pre-production process, aided with the support of the Chicago DCA project, The Wreck of the Medusa was an ambitious production created by The Plagiarists. I was cast as Captain de Chaumareys--the tradgically inept commander who doomed the famous French ship and vicariously induced canablism and ultimately immortalized in Gericault's Louver's fresco.
Talk, Kiss, Blackout
HoBo Junction has been a bastion of original comedy, helmed by Josh Zagoren and a band of ruffians deadset on creating original comedy prodcutions. I have been involved in several productions including The Temp, Bad Guys in Suits, Talk-Kiss-Blackout, and various specialty projects. Sometimes a 45 minute romp is just as rewarding as a three hour epic. Proud to work with these nuts.
Gross Indecency
Gross Indecency; the Three Trials of Oscar Wilde was one of the first 'meaty' roles I was afforded with BoHo Theatre Company. Intimate, stylized and historically accurate (down to the underwear), this production was a lesson in social-political theatre that really resonated with a community and the city at large. I was honored and humbled to participate in this in depth production.
